What we do

Hal Far Outreach currently has different ongoing projects and activities. All these projects and activities focus on either information provision, individual support, basic needs, or a combination of the three. Ultimately, Hal Far Outreach works to stimulate integration, foster inclusion and help create a sense of belonging for asylum-seekers, migrants and refugees in the Maltese society.

16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Hal Far Outreach is participating in the Global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign starting 26 November 2019.
We believe it is of paramount importance to create awareness on sexual and gender-based violence amongst the migrant and refugee women living in Hal Far.
Therefore, we are organising a range of activities that focus on self-empowerment, psychological relief and awareness on SGBV through accessible and inviting activities in welcoming spaces.
The activities we decided to organise are mainly focused on the empowerment of women, however in some of the activities we decided to include men since we believe this is of high importance in fighting sexual and gender-based violence.
The activities we are working on are the launch of the project, a self-defence workshop, an employment search workshop in collaboration with African Media Association, a dance workshop in collaboration with the Department of Dance, University of Malta, a SGBV information session in collaboration with IOMMigrant Women Associationand the closing get together.
The activities will be held in a timeline of approximately from 26 November till 16 December 2019.
This project is supported by UNHCR Malta.

Ad Hoc Individual Support

Hal Far Outreach provides ad hoc and individual support to the people living in and around the Open Centers in Ħal Far
As our volunteers have established a trusted presence in the area, requests for individual support are made frequently – both in person and through our support phone system.
More to be announced later.

PeaceLab Information Center

The Peacelab Information Center is a drop-in center located at the periphery of the Peacelab in Ħal Far.
From this center, our volunteers provide information and support in a safe and welcoming environment.
Hal Far Outreach works in close collaboration with the Association for Peace, Equality and Justice, and the Peacelab to address the needs of the people in an appropriate manner and ensure the best possible service.
Through the information center, Hal Far Outreach aims to establish a trusted presence and point of reference in Ħal Far.
The Peacelab Information Center opens on Mondays and Wednesdays from 09:30 – 13:00 and on Thursdays from 18:00 – 21:00
On these days, people can come to the center for information provision, assistance in finding employment, creating a CV, or support with any other questions or queries.
We provide free coffee, tea, and water to everybody who comes to our drop-in hours.
This project is supported by UNHCR Malta.
